Our etched glass is produced using a technique first patented in 1809. Ground glass is fired on to the surface of the glass at high temperature, which bonds with the glass to give to give finished etched glass its frosted appearance. This is what leads to the slightly raised pattern found on etched glass manufactured in this manner. The below examples of etched glass have all been faithfully copied or inspired by Victorian originals.
